The American Academy of Nursing is pleased to continue an initiative generously supported by the Jonas Center for Nursing and Veterans Healthcare to support early-career scholars who will contribute to shaping nursing practice, education, and research policy.  The Jonas Policy Scholars Program is a two-year fellowship program in which up to six highly qualified doctoral and post-doctoral students in nursing will be selected annually to learn about the work of the American Academy of Nursing.  Jonas Policy Scholars will be matched with an expert panel and learn from leading experts in nursing about select health policy issues.  Expert panels represent the working groups of the Academy.  They review the current research and needs within their fields to make recommendations on projects or initiatives the Academy should undertake to transform health care policy and practice.

The 2016 Jonas Policy Scholars Program will begin in October 2016.  The selected Scholars will meet at the Academy’s 2016 Policy Conference, October 20-22 in Washington, DC.  Scholars’ travel, hotel, and registration for the conference will be covered by the program.
